PM ERDOĞAN CALLS MEETING ABOUT WIKILEAKS
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan discussed the WikiLeaks cables at a meeting with Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu and State Minister and chief EU negotiator Egemen Bağış on late Thursday.
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan discussed the WikiLeaks cables at a meeting with Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu and State Minister and chief EU negotiator Egemen Bağış on late Thursday. “Not only the WikiLeaks incident, but also some other foreign policy issues were discussed in the meeting,” Turkish foreign ministry officials told the Hürriyet Daily News & Economic Review Friday. Erdoğan reportedly called Davutoğlu, who met U.S. Secretary State of Hillary Clinton during a visit to Washington during the week, to the Ankara meeting to discuss the latest leaked cables. Davutoğlu was scheduled to visit to Astana on Thursday but reportedly cancelled his appointments to stop in Ankara. Whistle-blowing website WikiLeaks has made public a number of secret and classified diplomatic cables that detail the alleged activities of a number of Turkish officials and prominent figures in the ruling Justice and Development Party, or AKP, although none of the claims are supported by any evidence.
