When the parents of these children couldn’t pay their contribution for the annual 70,000-Turkish Lira cost of the medicines in 2009, the treatment was cut. After the intervention of Gül, an agreement was made with the Turkish Pharmacists Association and the families were exempted from the contribution requirement. “For 1.5 years the treatment has been continuing without a break. The height of my daughter, which was 79 centimeters before, has increased by 10 centimeters,” said the father of Başaran. The height of Uğurlu grew from 88 centimeters to 98 centimeters, said her mother, who thanked the president. “The medicine used during the treatment is brought from abroad and is very expensive.
