BACKSTAGE BARGAININGS
NATO countries agreed on weapon embargo against Libya over the sea and humanitarian assistance, however a decision could not be made on command in operation. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Turkey would not point gun on Libyan people and noted, "we will not be spectator from tribune."
Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu was expected to give information to opposition parties on Wednesday, but Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) and Peace & Democracy Party (BDP) refused the appointments. Republican People's Party (CHP) told government not to give permission to the operation.
The parliamentarians are expected to be given information at a secret session in the Parliament.
UNPERMITTED EQUIPMENT IN IRANIAN PLANE
The weapons and ammunition seized in a cargo plane belonging to Iran were stated to be banned equipment under the UN sanctions on Iran. As 7 people in the plane were detained, the plane was allowed to go to Iran without the equipment.
The plane was made to land at southeastern province of Diyarbakir as it was going to Syria via Turkey's air space.

NEW FORMULA IN COMMAND
U.S. President Barack Obama and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan reached a consensus: Arab world shall join the operations on Libya which will be pursued under the command of NATO. This consensus reflected to the statement of White House which was made yesterday regarding the phone conversation of the two leaders. Here's the most striking part of the statement which includes very diplomatic expressions: "Obama and Erdogan agreed that this will require a broad-based international effort, including Arab states, to implement and enforce the UN resolutions, based on national contributions and enabled by NATO's unique multinational command and control capabilities to ensure maximum effectiveness."
WHAT HAPPENED TO TURKEY'S PLAY-MAKING?
Regarding Libya operations, Turkey's main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu said, "western world by-passed Turkey and directly contacted with Arab League and African Union. Turkey, which is supposedly a play-maker, cannot even be a figurant."
BIG REACTION TO INSOLENT SLAP
BDP (Peace & Democracy Party) deputy Sebahat Tuncel's slapping Security Department Chief Murat Cetiner in the face during Nevruz celebrations in Silopi town of the eastern province of Tunceli as well as BDP deputy Bengi Yildiz's coming at police officers with a stone in his hand in the eastern province of Batman caused indignation both in public opinion and political world.

BUSINESS ASSOCIATION MAKES BOLD PROPOSALS OVER NEW CONSTITUTION
Turkish Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association, an influential business group in Turkey, has made a courageous declaration on the writing of a new constitution in the country, making bold proposals such as allowing women lawmakers wear headscarf at the parliament, a regional state structure and placing the General Staff under the control of the Ministry of Defense. Speaking at a TUSIAD meeting on Tuesday, Cem Boyner, executive board director of the Boyner Holding, said "happiness, freedom, rights and honor of our people are far more important than the state itself and even the division of the state."
U.S. COMMANDER DUE IN TURKEY OVER NATO ROLE IN LIBYA
James G. Stavridis, the current Commander of the U.S. European Command (USEUCOM) and NATO's Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), is set to pay a visit to Turkey to convince Turkey to approve a NATO plan for military action in Libya. Stavridis is scheduled to arrive on Thursday. He is set to meet with Chief of the Military Staff Gen. Isik Kosaner.

CONFIDENTIAL DOCUMENT REVEALS FORMER MILITARY HEAD IN TURKEY WIRETAPPED JOURNALIST
Yasar Buyukanit, a former head of the Turkish military, has been revealed to have ordered wiretapping of a journalist. A confidential document -- carries initials of Buyukanit himself when he was the deputy chief of the Turkish General Staff back in 2001 -- includes the readout of four telephone conversations of Utku Cakirozer, a correspondent with the daily Milliyet back then, and appeals for the cancellation of the Cakirozer's press accreditation with the General Staff. "My accreditation was cancelled twice for no reason," Cakirozer says.
IRANIAN PLANE LEAVES AFTER SEIZURE OF WEAPONS, MUNITIONS
An Iranian plane left off Tuesday evening after Turkish officials impounded part of its cargo containing weapons and munitions. The Iranian plane was made to land last Saturday at an airport in Turkey's southeast while it was passing through the Turkish airspace en route to Syria. "The plane was cleared to take off for Iran after the seizure of the cargo banned under the UN sanctions on Iran," said an official with the Turkish Foreign Ministry.

WE WON'T POINT GUN AT LIBYANS
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan cleared Turkey's position regarding the operations on Libya. He said, "we join efforts for humanitarian aid. We will never be the side which points gun at Libyan people."
NATO COMMANDER DUE IN TURKEY TO CONVINCE
Turkey did not approve the recent plan of NATO regarding Libya. NATO sent James G. Stavridis, the current Commander of the U.S. European Command (USEUCOM) and NATO's Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), to convince Turkey. He will be in capital Ankara tomorrow. Stavridis will inform Turkey's Chief of General Staff Gen. Isik Kosaner about Libya operation, and try to convince Ankara for handing over the command to NATO. Grandfather of Stavridis had been a Greek teacher in Turkey's western province of Izmir. Stavridis, in his book "Destroyer Captain" he wrote in 2008, claims that Greeks in Izmir were exposed to 'ethnic cleansing' in 1920s and his grandfather escaped first to Athens and then the U.S.

NOT DEATH BUT ASSISTANCE SHOULD GO THERE
Speaking at group meeting of his Justice & Development (AK) Party, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, "Turkey will never be the party pointing a gun to Libyan people. U.N. should be the umbrella of the operation bringing humanitarian assistance to Libya."
"Our concerns regarding military intervention against Libya is extremely rightful. Military interventions never brought benefit in the past, and turned into occupation. Turkey supports change," Erdogan said.
PEACE OPERATION STARTS TO LIBYA
Turkey said "yes" to intervention of NATO in Libya within the scope of the resolution of the United Nations. Turkey is planning to send a ship to Benghazi. The ship will act there to bring health assistance or ensure weapon embargo. U.S. President Barack Obama gave assurances for implementation of UN decisions in his telephone conversation with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

WE WILL NOT POINT A GUN TO LIBYA
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan put forth his stance regarding operation against Libya. "We will never use gun against Libya," he said.
Erdogan supported closing of air space and opposed to a military operation.
Erdogan reminded Iraq and warned, "in the past we have seen and experienced that such kind of operations were not useful, on the contrary, increased loss of lives and turned into occupation."
Erdogan said Turkey would support efforts which will restore peace in Libya.
7.6 BILLION USD TURKISH INVESTMENT UNDER BOMBING
Coalition forces which hit Libya also damaged Turkish investments there.
Whether the projects of Turkish companies will continue will become clear at the summit that will take place at the end of the month.

WAYS DEPARTED WITH HAGI
Galatasaray soccer club dissolved the contract with coach George Hagi, and Tugay Kerimoglu replaced him till the end of the season in Spor Toto Super League. Hagi did not reply questions about the issue. The club will make the official statement after holding a meeting with the Romanian coach.
ANKARA REACTS THE SLAP
People reacted deputies of Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) who overshadowed the Nevruz celebrations across the country. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the tactlessness of BDP deputy Sebahat Tuncel --who slapped a police chief in the face-- would be examined. Former Interior Minister Besir Atalay said, "shame on you", while opposition Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahceli said, "marauders".

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan clearly said that Turkey would not be involved in an operation which would target Libyan people. He said, "I underline that Turkey will never be the side which points gun at Libyan people."

TURKEY SLAMS U.S. IN F-35 FIGHTER JET DEAL
Turkey has suspended an order it had placed to the United States to buy F-35 fighter jets. A defense industry committee chaired by the Turkish premier on Tuesday said it had suspended the ongoing 16 billion USD project to buy 100 F-35 fighters. Pentagon has refused to share with Turkey critical information on the plane's flight codes and other software.
OBAMA THANKS ERDOGAN OVER HUMANITARIAN EFFORTS IN LIBYA
U.S. President Barack Obama has thanked Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan over Turkey's humanitarian efforts in Libya, the White House said in a statement on Tuesday. The statement said Obama and Erdogan had agreed that a broad-based international effort including NATO was required. Obama also thanked for Turkey's "assistance in facilitating the release and safe passage to Tunisia of four New York Times journalists who had been detained in Libyan custody."
