DAVUTOGLU IN HATAY
Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu was in southern province of Hatay on Wednesday where he went to observe the living conditions of Syrians who fled to Turkey after running away from violence in Syria. Davutoglu told reporters that Syria was not just an ordinary foreign topic for Turkey and could never be. "It is impossible for Turkey to be indifferent to developments taking place in Syria," Davutoglu said.

ERDOGAN MEETS AL-ASSAD'S SPECIAL REPRESENTATIVE TURKMANI
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan received Wednesday Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's special representative Hasan Turkmani and an accompanying delegation at the Prime Ministry Official Residence. Erdogan's meeting with the Syrian delegation took place behind closed doors and lasted 2 hours and 40 minutes. Speaking to reporters prior to his meeting with Erdogan, Turkmani said that some Syrians will remain in Turkey as guests for a short while. Turkmani's comments came after hundreds of Syrians fled to Turkey recently escaping violence in the country.

SHE IS NOT COMING FOR GALA, INSTEAD SHE IS COMING FOR HATAY
Academy-award winner actress Angelina Jolie, who is also a good will envoy of the United Nations (UN), will come to Turkey to visit the camp of Syrian citizens (who have fled from the unrest in their country) in the southern province of Hatay. A Foreign Ministry official said, "we have immediately responded positively to Jolie's official request. We expect her in Turkey on Friday, the latest."

YES, WE ARE WRONG
Commenting on the fact that 75 of 100 questions in an abroad higher education diploma equivalence exam were the same with last year's exam, Prof. Ali Demir, the head of the Student Selection and Placement Center (OSYM), said, "there was a mistake, we admit it." The exam will be re-held.

THERE WON'T BE SHAKING-HANDS AT PARLIAMENT THIS TIME
Devlet Bahceli, the chairman of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), spoke to Hurriyet daily and explained his party's post-election strategy. Bahceli said, "we shook hands with Ahmet Turk at the beginning of the previous legislative term. Don't think that you will see the same picture this time because there were many things said with a victory glory after the elections."

CONSTITUTION DATE: OCTOBER 1
When talking about a new constitution, Huseyin Celik, the spokesman of the Justice & Development (AK) Party, said, "we hope all political parties will make their preparations till October 1. We can make a remarkable process if there is good will."

ANGELINA JOLIE DUE IN TURKEY
Hollywood icon Angelina Jolie is set to arrive in Turkey's southern province of Hatay to pay a visit to tent camps there that accommodates over eight thousand Syrian refugees who fled violence in their country. As a goodwill ambassador of the United Nations top refugee agency, Jolie will meet the Syrians. Jolie is expected to arrive on Friday.

FORMER HEAD OF TURKEY'S MAIN OPPOSITION CALLS FOR GRAND PARTY CONVENTION
Ex-leader of the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) Deniz Baykal has called his successor Kemal Kilicdaroglu to convene a grand session of the party demanding change in the party leadership after the elections which saw the CHP won 26 percent of the votes. "No one should fool oneself. The election result is not a success. Mr Kilicdaroglu should take an initiative and call for the grand session," Baykal told the daily MILLIYET.

JOBLESS RATE DOWN
Unemployment in Turkey dropped last March by 29 percent over the same month a year ago, to 10.8 percent. And it was down by 0.7 percent over the previous month. Youth unemployment decreased by 5.3 percent to 19.3 percent.

YSK TENDS TO CANCEL PARLIAMENT MEMBERSHIP
The decision of the Supreme Court of Appeals to uphold the prison term of independent candidate Hatip Dicle legally bounded the Higher Election Board (YSK). The board tends to drop Dicle's parliament membership. The Peace & Democracy Party (BDP) said, "we will not go to the parliament."

NO LIMIT FOR SYRIAN CITIZENS TAKING SHELTER IN TURKEY
Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu visited Syrian citizens taking shelter in the southern province of Hatay on Wednesday. Davutoglu said, "it is out of question to stop inflow of Syrian citizens after their number reach 10,000." Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's special envoy had a meeting with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

DICKINSON TO FLY BOTH ON AIR AND STAGE
British heavy metal band Iron Maiden will come to Istanbul by their private plane for the first time in 13 years. The band's soloist Bruce Dickinson will be the pilot of the plane. The guitarist of the band, Janick Gers spoke to Radikal daily, and said it would be an amazing concert.

TURKEY'S BUDGET RUN SURPLUS DESPITE ELECTIONS
Turkey's central budget ran a surplus of 2.8 billion Turkish liras in May despite last Sunday's general elections. The central budget for the first time ran surplus for the fourth time in the five month period in 2011. Deficit dropped by 98 percent from 9.9 billion Turkish lira to 233 million TL. Unemployment figures also were promising as the jobless rate was down to 10.8 percent in May from 13.7 percent a month earlier. The number of the employed increased to 23.29 million. Youth unemployment also dropped from 24.6 percent to 19.3 percent.

INDEPENDENT MP FACES PRISON TERM
Hatip Dicle, an independent candidate who was elected lawmaker from Turkey's southeastern province of Diyabakir in last Sunday's general elections, faces a prison sentence of 20 months for "making propaganda" for the terrorist organization PKK. Turkey's High Board of Election gave Dicle one-week deadline to present his defense. Otherwise the board might cancel Dicle's status as MP. If that happens the ruling Justice and Development Party would get another lawmaker.

WE ARE BETTER THAN EUROPE!
Turkey is winning the fight against unemployment. The amount of jobless Turks in March dropped to 10.8 percent when compared to the same term last year. Turkey's statistics authority TurkStat said that the number of employed Turks went up 1.5 million in March to a total of 23.2 million people. According to TurkStat, the number of jobless Turks went down 622,000 in March to a total of 2.82 million people.

RONALDO TO HAVE VACATION IN BODRUM
Renowned soccer player of Real Madrid, Ronaldo, will arrive in Turkey on Friday. Ronaldo will spend his vacation in Turkish resort town of Bodrum. Ronaldo will be in Bodrum for a week.

FIVE MESSAGES FROM ERDOGAN TO DAMASCUS
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan warned Syrian President Bashar al-Assad for the last time. Earlier, Erdogan had said, "we are losing our patience." Erdogan asked al-Assad to end operations, ensure atmosphere of security, listen to the opposition, make public a reform schedule, and implement security law.

WORLD U-TURNS
The West, which said before the June 12 general elections that "the Justice & Development (AK) Party is melting", made a U-turn after the party won 50 percent of votes. The Economist had said before the elections that the best way for Turks to promote democracy would be to vote against the ruling party, and recommended that Turks vote for the Republican People's Party (CHP). However, after the elections, the same magazine published an article titled "Erdogan's hat-trick, and said, "the country's charismatic prime minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, becomes the first Turkish leader not only to win three consecutive elections, but to increase his party's share of the vote each time."

TWO MORE GOOD NEWS
Unemployment problem caused by global crisis is declining in parallel to growth rates. Unemployment rate was down 2.9 points to 10.8 percent year-on-year in March. Moreover, the budget yielded a surplus for the fourth time in five years despite the election process. The budget surplus was 2.8 billion Turkish liras (TL) in May, and the five-month budget deficit was down 98 percent. Turkey earned 2.5 billion TL from restructuring of public receivables.

TURKISH FM SAYS DOORS WILL RERMAIN OPEN FOR SYRIANS
Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said Turkey would not close its southern borders with Syria, commenting on Syrians fleeing to Turkey due to ongoing incidents in their country. "It is out of question for us to shut down in any way our doors on our Syrian brothers. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has made this point very clear. For us, Syrian and Turkish peoples share a common future and fate," Davutoglu told reporters if Turkey would not accept any more Syrians.

GENERALS TESTIFY IN ALLEGED ANTI-GOVERNMENT BLACK PROPAGANDA CAMPAIGN
Three generals with the Turkish Armed Forces testified on Wednesday to a prosecutor probing an alleged anti government black propaganda. Generals Mehmet Eroz, Hifzi Cubuklu and Mustafa Bakici stood before the prosecutor for allegedly building Internet sites that in a campaign to besmirch the ruling Justice and Development Party government.

NEW PARLIAMENT TO WORK FOR NEW CONSTITUTION AND FREEDOMS
Parliamentary elections with high political tension is over in Turkey. The new Turkish Parliament will now begin working on formulating a new Constitution and expanding freedoms.

WE WILL NOT CLOSE DOORS TO SYRIANS, SAYS DAVUTOGLU
Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu visited Syrian nationals who fled to Turkey escaping violence in their country in southern province of Hatay on Wednesday. Davutoglu said that there were 8,500 Syrians living in tent cities in Turkey. Our doors are open to other Syrians who may enter Turkey, Davutoglu said.
