YILMAZ GÜNEY'S FILMS TO BE SCREENED IN USA

The films including "Yol ( The Way), Umut ( The hope), Suru (The Herd), Seyit Han and Aç Kurtlar will be shown several cities in the USA including Los Angeles, Houston Berkeley/ San Francisco and New Yok and in Canadian cities of Vancouver, Toronto and Ottowa in association with Turkish curator Ercüment Akman, the Culture& Tourism Ministry's Office in Washington and the Günay Film.

A Turkish director, novelist and actor Yilmaz Guney's films will be screened in the USA and Canada.

The films including "Yol (The Way)", "Umut (The Hope)", "Suru (The Herd)", "Seyit Han" and "Ac Kurtlar (Hungry Wolves)" will be shown several cities in the USA including Los Angeles, Houston, Berkeley/San Francisco and New York and in Canadian cities of Vancouver, Toronto and Ottowa in association with Turkish curator Ercument Akman, the Culture & Tourism Ministry's Office in Washington and the Guney Film.

A documentary about Turkish cinema and late Yilmaz Guney's life will also be screened during the events.

The last stop for the films will be Washington in 2012. Symposiums will take place at the universities of George Mason and Georgetown.

Akman said in an interview with the A.A that Guney's eight unforgettable films would be screened all together in the USA for the first time.

"I think that programs including films by a certain director will be more useful to promote Turkish cinema instead of organizing Turkish film festivals. We are planning to organize similar programs for Turkish directors such as Reha Erdem, Fatih Akin and Semih Kaplanoglu," he added.
