A 12 year-old Turkish girl has won the top spot in a cooking contest broadcast on a private Dutch TV channel.

Suna Akin left behind nearly 500 rivals in "Junior Masterchef," a contest for children between 8-12 years of age, with a selection of delicacies from the traditional Turkish and Ottoman cuisine as her plates in the finals included lentil soup, stuffed quail and cranberry cake.

"I love cooking and my dream is to open two restaurants in Holland. I will make Turkish and Ottoman dishes in one and European dishes in the other. My greatest wish is to promote Turkish cuisine in the world," Akin told the Anadolu Agency.
