Turkey is a country of "WONDERS" many a foreigners visiting Turkey say once they step on the soil of this wonderful "treasury of history and culture".. It is a heaven for holiday makers in search of "SUN & SEA" and also perfect for scuba divers with its beautiful and cyrstal clear waters ..

Turkey is a country of "WONDERS" for many a foreigners visiting Turkey say once they step on the soil of this wonderful "treasury of history and culture".. Tourists can certainly enjoy a feast of "colors, diversity, traditions" originating from so many cultures that have floursihed in the past ..
Culture is not only what TURKEY MEANS to a foreign tourist though .. This beautiful country is surrounded by sea on 3 sides .. Thus Turkey is a heaven for holiday makers in search of "SUN & SEA" .. and moreover it is PERFECT FOR SCUBA DIVERS with its beautiful and cyrstal clear waters ..
Within the seas of Turkey, divers can discover a fascinating submerged world, from underwater caverns to sunken ships and even the remains of ancient cities. The only areas prohibited from diving are military zones, those conducting scientific research and areas under protection.
Most popular locations are Antalya and Province, Balıkesir and Province, Muğla and Province (Datca), Marmaris, Bodrum, Çanakkale and Province and Gokceada and Bozcaada
Among these BOZCAADA and especially GEYIKLI (right across the island) are much closer to Istanbul and less costly provided you get good guidance.
There are submerged ruins from World War I in Kuzu Harbour, and many huge anchors and wrecks of ships between the Mermer Lighthouse and the Anatolian coast. Around these waters are the islands of Orfoz, Karayer and Essek, which are home to a huge range of sea creatures. Canak harbour, Bakla Tasi, Pinar Dere Mermer Cape, and the south of Tuz cape are good points for diving.
There is a diving school in Bozcaada and another one at GEYIKLI (right across the island where you take the ferry) that will provide much better professional service (one-to-one).
You can stay at Bozcaada (a place worth seeing but real expensive as the season is very short) or else you can stay at facilites on the mainland with much more reasonable prices (accomodation and food). Again, it depends on the professional guidance you will get.
A good place to do scubadiving would be POSIDONIA Scuba Diving Center at GEYIKLI .. The chief instructor is an experinced diver (professional with 10s of years of experience from the navy) and he personally attends to the activities of the participants ..
