EUROBASKET 2009: TURKISH GIANTS BEAT SPAIN ON THE ROW
Spain got its share from Turkey's unpreventable rise at the 2009 Eurobasket; 63-60.. "It's a big win for us against a good team," said Turkey forward Hedo Turkoglu. "We played hard and together and won, so I'm happy about what we did and we can hopefully continue like this."

Spain got its share from Turkey's unpreventable rise at the 2009 Eurobasket; 63-60.. "It's a big win for us against a good team," said Turkey forward Hedo Turkoglu. "We played hard and together and won, so I'm happy about what we did and we can hopefully continue like this."
Ersan ILYASOVA, Semih ERDEN, Ömer AŞIK and all other players proved to be very valuable assets for the Turkish side which seems to be determined to have a say in this tournament. Turkey's characteristic in EURUOBASKET 2009 is togetherness, determination and fighting.
Erden and Ömer Aşık proved to be key forces against Spain, as two young centers produced a combined 24 points and 10 rebounds.
Los Angeles Lakers center Pau Gasol and Portland Trail Blazers guard Rudy Fernandez led Spain with 16 points.
Forward Ersan İlyasova scored 15 points came up with a key block in the closing seconds to guide Turkey to a 63-60 win over world champion Spain on Saturday in the second round of the European basketball championship.
Spain had the ball and a chance to win the game with 12 seconds to play. Guard Sergio Llull drove to the basket, but İlyasova got a hand on the shot and teammate Ender Arslan grabbed the rebound.
Center Semih Erden then hit a pair of free throws to seal the Group F win and keep Turkey unbeaten at the tournament.
Turkey, which is on top of the Group F of the qualifying round, has now four wins in as many games. Twelve Giant Men next play Serbia on Monday, and Spain faces Lithuania.
