SAHIN SPEAKS ON ENERGY SUPPLY SECURITY

Speaker of the Turkish Parliament Mehmet Ali Şahin drew attention to the heavy traffic in the straits and said they would not allow for the Turkish straits to be converted into a petrol pipeline.

Speaking at the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organisation General Assembly in Moscow, Mehmet Ali Şahin pointed out that Turkey had an important place in the world in terms of energy and mines, and that the Black Sea was a bridge between producer and consumer.

Pointing out that there were points of disagreements and hot confrontations in the region, Şahin said that Turkey was spending the utmost effort for these age-old problems to end.

The Parliament Speaker said Turkey aimed to establish energy supply security and contribute to European energy security. Mehmet Ali Şahin met Armenian Parliament Speaker Horik Abrahamyan, where he said that they wanted to normalize relations with Armenia like with all neighbors.
