HANNES SWOBODA VISITS ISTANBUL 2010
A sponsor parliamentary to the launch meeting of Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture held in Brussels on 2 February, Mr. Hannes Swoboda who is also vice-president and parliamentary manager of the Socialist Group in the European Parliament, has come to Istanbul for examining Istanbul 2010 ECOC projects on site.

A sponsor parliamentary to the launch meeting of Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture held in Brussels on 2 February, Mr. Hannes Swoboda who is also vice-president and parliamentary manager of the Socialist Group in the European Parliament, has come to Istanbul for examining Istanbul 2010 ECOC projects on site.
Mr. Swoboda joined in site investigations of the projects with Yılmaz Kurt the Secretary General of Istanbul 2010 ECOC Agency; and met with Tourism and Promotion Director Özgül Özkan Yavuz and Cultural Heritage and Museums Director Suay Aksoy.
Also visiting the Istanbul 2010 ECOC Kadırga Art Production Center, Mr. Swoboda spoke with Visual Arts Director Beral Madra and later visited the Austrian artist Peter Kögler –who is currently working for the project “Lives and Works in Istanbul” on the site
Mr.Swoboda participated in the opening of “From Tradition to Modern” exhibition at Istanbul Modern as well and examined the restoration work conducted by the Agency in Hagia Sophia Museum.
